ADR - DANGEROUS GOODS
(INITIAL COURSE)
This qualification is mandatory for drivers who carry either packaged dangerous goods (vehicleover 3.5 tonnes) or dangerous goods in road tankers (over 1000 litrescapacity).
The qualification isan ADR Certificate issued by the SQA.
The test is a“multiple choice” examination run through Scottish Qualifications Authority. The candidate must pass at least three modules for a certificate to be issued – Core, either packs or tanks and one chemicalclass.
The courses are of varying length – a standard “full course” covers core, tanks and packs modules and all seven chemical classes, the course duration is five days and costs £500.00+ vat The tanks course covers core,tanks and class 3 – flammable liquids, the course duration is four days and costs £300.00 + vat

Your ADR certificate needs to be renewed every 5 Years, and you must renew the licence at least 6 – 8 weeks before the expiry date. You may only renew those modules that already exist on your licence.
INITIAL REQUIREMENTS
You must hold acurrent driver licence
TRAINING
The trainingfor the initial course covers two weekends and examination day. Training will take place at our conferencecentre by a fully qualified ADR instructor; we will notify you with dates of the next course.
ADR (REFRESHER)
The refresher course is for those who already carry a DVLA - ADR certificate.
Your ADR certificate needs to be renewedevery 5 Years, and you must renew the licence at least 6 – 8 weeks before the expiry date. You may only renew those modules that already exist on yourlicence.
